Unity Presence in the Philippines

The above is an idea whose time has come. Since last month, Mrs. Florence Rivera Monzon has been holding spiritual meetings (about Unity and its teachings) at the Nipa Hut Restaurant in Pasig, Philippines.  The meetings are currently held every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.  The word is getting out; and more people are coming.

Come on over and join us.  Learn how to lead a prosperous, grand and glorious life through Unity teachings, as taught by Mrs. Monzon.

Currently, I am also fixing another house in preparation to establishing a Joy Center in Mabalacat, Pampanga, Philippines, promoting joy through the application of Unity principles and other related subjects. May guidance and help come when needed.

Indeed! Miracles are happening all over the place.  Thank you, God! Incidentally, I have written about the Unity movement in one of the entries in this blog.  The principles expatiated by Unity are based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, as reflected in the sacred scriptures. Throughout my life’s critical challenges, I have applied the teachings, which resulted in a strong faith on my part.   I can firmly say that I have overcome whatever it is that I need to overcome. For more information, please visit:

In my book, “Whispers of the Soul,” pp. 291-377, Unity is explored–its teachings, background and proofs of the efficacy of its principles.

Last Wednesday, April 24, 2013, I facilitated a World Laughter Day celebration.  The participants and I had a “laughing time! What a blast!  Thank you, everyone, who added much joy and laughter to the event.

Important Notice

I have not been doing regular entries to this blog.  Once again, my apologies.  Somehow, physical discomforts and other life’s events are in the way.  I pray that I have not lost some of you, my beloved readers.  I am hoping that everything will be all right soon; and I will be able to attend to posting on this blog.

In the meantime, take care.  Until we meet again in this blog.

Words of Comfort and Strength

Lesson:  If we have faith, words of comfort and strength come when we most need them.

In a recent episode that I have chronicled in this blog, empowering words often came, especially during my meditation periods.  Some are shown below.

  • Feel safe, my child,

for I am always on your side.

I am your shield and guide.

  • Stress comes right and left.

Standing firm, I press on.

Deep faith conquers all.

  • Feel safe and protected, my child;

I’m always your shield and guide.

  • I am your guide and protector

Against infractions, big and minor.

NOTE: The words about protector and guide come often!

  • Focus on the good

To help lighten up your mood.

  • Surround yourself with positive people

To help weather life’s storms.

  • Being with people, positive and true

Will help you get out of the blue.

  • Whether the threat be small or major,

I am always your protector.

  • My meditation space is fronting a garden where birds are plentiful.

Why do birds sing and fly effortlessly through the air?

Because of their faith in a creator who supplies their need.

It is written that our creator will supply every need of ours

in the riches and glory of the Christ.

  • Lately, Psalm 23 has been coming to my consciousness.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Most especially, this part speaks volumes to me:

‘Surely goodness and love shall follow me all the days of my life,

and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

Miracles Surround the Saga of Deception: Part Four, Conclusions

Lesson: Everything happens for the good—yes, everything!

Time and time again, life has offered me challenges that seem insurmountable. But when the dust settles, I see that whatever challenge is placed before me is for the best.

Yes, I can say emphatically that the biggest deception in my life that has been the subject of a series of posts under the main title, “Miracles Surround the Saga of Deception” belongs to this category.  Why?

  1. It confirms that my spiritual practices and beliefs provide me with firm anchor that let me sail triumphantly through life’s storms, no matter how big they are.
  2. Of course, there are weak moments; but immediately, my Anchor comes to the rescue, saving from going down the pit of despair.
  3. What about my firm belief that there is good in every human heart?  It is still intact.  Sure; some people forget the Truth of their being, spreading negativity around them.  I bless them, and let them go.  I have done what I can and leave it at that.  And there will be no more next time, because I will not be the target of their indiscretions.
  4. Furthermore, my trust in people is still intact.  This time around though, I am checking facts and not just take anyone’s words at their face value. I am going back to my being an auditor, which was my profession before I left the land of my birth! Discernment is now a big word in my vocabulary.  I am using discernment in dealing with people.  Are the tears I see for real or are they crocodile tears?
  5. This question sometimes comes up:  Why am I attracting these kinds of result in my life?  This makes me pray this continually:  “Purify my heart; oh Lord; purify my heart.”  This reminds me to do an inner cleansing on a regular basis. As this process has been alluded to in past entries, it will not be repeated here.
  6. The events lead me to reclaim my house; thus, providing a place for the Joy Center.  For sometime now, the dream of establishing this kind of center in the land of my birth has been percolating in my heart and soul.  The dream is coming into fruition!  Praise God.  In fact, now printed on the gate of the house is the following:

Joy Center
Healing of the Body, Mind, Heart, and Soul.

As regards the healing of the body, we have included Aim-Global, headed by Lina Almazan and Olive Mercado. These ladies have started working in the area for the promotion of this business.  When the place is fixed and the time is right—with any necessary permit in place—we will start the operations of the Joy Center.  I will be doing the following:

    1. holding counseling
    2. facilitating laughter workshops and metaphysical classes
    3. teaching meditation

God blesses us all as we travel this miraculous journey, called L I F E !

Miracles Surround the Saga of Deception: Part Three, Angels in Human Form

Lesson: During the difficult times, our faith will see us through. We will be led to the people who will assist us in finding the solutions to our dilemmas.

As I continue to write about the miracles, the vision of the deception being in the middle of a bubble of miracles come to my mind. Some of these miracles are angels in human form being sent to give me assistance of all kinds.  They are listed below. Once again, everything is related in the presence tense.

  1. Lina Almazan, Olive Mercado, and Linda Mercado:  Along with their expertise and assistance, their presence during the whole process makes everything doable and enjoyable.
  2. Nora Briones: She opens her heart and her home, giving us a place to rest for the night for more than two weeks.
  3. Eli Magtoto, a man of many talents: He shares with us his expertise in fixing the house—e.g., plumbing and electrical matters.
  4. Erlinda Reyes, a woman who cares to the nth level about the people in her space:  Every time we pay her a visit, she welcomes us with open arms with her hospitality and a readiness to help us in any way she can.
  5. Dr. Tricia Mercado-Flores, a competent doctor: Without qualms, she issues to this author a prescription that she needs. And it is even without charge.
  6. Eric Mercado, our newly found relative who lives few houses from us, whom we have befriended: When one of the bedroom doors is locked, we call on him to assist us.  He unlocks and door.  Thereafter, he says that we can always call on him when we need help.  An interesting miracle happen showing the kindness of this pleasant man:  I ask my assistant to cook a particular Filipino dish.  Lo, and behold! Here comes Eric bringing with him a big saucer of this dish!  Ah, miracles never cease!
  7. Ines Velasquez: Her wondrous joy warms the heart and helps lighten up the tasks that are in our plate of life.
  8. Ising de Leon: Without hesitation, she takes time to bring us to see Ines Velasquez, who is visiting the Philippines from the States.
  9. Dalen Mercado-Rivera and family: To reconnect with our roots, we pay her and her family a visit.  They all welcome us warmly, making sure that we are well fed and comfortable during our visit.
  10. San Francisco Barangay Captain Manuel Dingal and his associates:  They listen to our pleas for help, assisting us in taking back our house.
  11. Valuable city employees, whose names we have deleted from this list: They show us the way to reclaim the title of the house and the lot that has been the main object of the big deception.
  12. GG, to whom I can turn anytime I am in need of help: His big financial help that comes on time is invaluable in fixing the house in a major way.

Our hearts are filled with gratitude, first to God, for sending us these angels.  We thank you, Angels, for being there when you are most needed. Your unselfish and caring assistance is imprinted in our hearts and will remain there for a very long time.

Miracles Surround the Saga of Deception: Part Two, Miracles on the Road

Lesson: Let us focus on the miracles, not on the deceptions.

From the start, the road I travel on has been literally littered with flowers of miracles.  They are listed below. To make the words active, they are written in the present tense.

  1. When I start the journey of claiming back the house that I let RM stay for free for a number of years, someone close to my heart suggests that I go to the Barangay for help, which I do. The San Francisco Barangay is in charge of the area where my house is situated.
  2. The Barangay people assist me in many ways, for which I will always grateful. The assistance they give me is for free.  When I offer to at least give them lunch, they decline; saying that what they do is their job.
  3. I am in perfect health as I dealt with the saga of deceptions that seems endless.  Considering that I am still recovering from the severe physical discomforts that I experienced two months ago, this is indeed a miracle.
  4. My faith has been solid and has made me strong in body, mind, and soul.  In my meditations, words of comfort and strength often come.  Some of these are:
  • “Thou shalt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee.” This comes when I have a tendency to think about the deceptions.
  • “He will restore the years that the locusts have eaten.”  This comes when I feel the loss of my prized material possessions.

As time permits, more of these words may be shown in a future entry in this blog.

5. When the feeling of loss over my stolen material possessions comes, something inside of me says, “You may have stolen my material possessions, but you will never steal the jewels of my mind, body, and soul.” That is why I have remained cool and collected during the whole process.  In fact, some of my companions were afraid because of the whole scenario of threats; and I said that if I am always afraid, nothing will happen in my life. Do you see that God has been there all the time, holding my hand, comforting and strengthening me?
6.  During the process, many angels in human form miraculously appear on the scene to hold my hand and inspire me.  A future post will be about these angels.

(Incidentally, please accept my apologies for the way numbers 5 and 6 are shown.  As mentioned in a number of posts, sometimes our insufficient computer knowledge is a hindrance in presenting our work in a prefect way.  Thank you for understanding our dilemma.)

Miracles Surround the Saga of Deception: Part One, the Deception

Lesson: When traveling on a road that is bumpy with dishonesty and other unsavory acts committed by people we trust, let us focus not on the acts but on the miracles that are on the road.

The Deception (I would have preferred to post this later but readers need to know what’s what from the very beginning.)

Chronicled below are the events relating to the biggest deceptions this author has ever experienced in her many decades of living on this earth:

  1. He did not have any place to stay; and in my desire to help him out, I let go of the tenant renting my house in the province. I let this gentleman stay in the house rent free for many years.  In the meantime, I kept sending him my belongings from abroad to be stored in the house.
  2. During the course of his stay, he kept coming to be for financial help, which eventually amounted to big sums of money, promising to pay me back when he was back on his feet. He said that it was a big project, which when materialized would really put him on a good financial position.
  3. To further help him out, I even went him to check out a nearby cooking school. I gave him the money for his tuition and other expenses.  He said he would pay me back.
  4. I went to the States for a vacation.  In the meantime, he promised to pay me back the tons of money that he owed me, giving me definite dates to do so.
  5. When I came back, I asked him to see me to discuss his promises.  He kept giving me reasons why he could not pay me back.

6.  Most recently, I had asked for a chance to stay in the house because of my health.  He kept giving me dates as to when he would come to give me the keys to the house.  He never did. Later on, even his cell phone was out of commission.

  1. Exasperated, I went to the province and requested government help (from the San Francisco Barangay that was in charge of the area where the house is located) for me to get the house. I showed them the documents showing that I own the house.  Under their observation and with help from other people, someone broke the lock; and I was able to get in the house.  I had to change all the locks of the house.
  2. Once inside the house, I found many of my belongings from abroad missing—computer, printer, small television, CDs, comforters, linens, and other items for the house and for the JoyCenter I planned to establish. I soon learned from a reliable source that he had been selling them, few items at a time. That is why he kept delaying giving me the keys to the house!
  3. He sent a number of messages to my cell phone, threatening to harm me. To avoid my being stressed over the cruel words, I just let my assistant take care of these messages.
  4. THE BIGGEST DECEPTION WAS HE TRANSFERRED THE TITLE OF THE HOUSE AND THE LOT TO HIS NAME!

The next post will be about the miracles that literally covered that road that I traveled on.

(Incidentally, please accept my apologies for the way No. 6 is presented. This writer sometimes has to deal with insufficient computer knowledge.  Thanks for your understanding heart.)

Three Tips for the Good Life

I just posted on my Facebook page, www.facebook.com/drbethleilani.mercado the following:

1. Be careful of what you say.
It might come back to haunt you.

2. If you do not have anything good to say,
keep your mouth shut!

3. What you give, you give unto yourself.
(From A Course in Miracles)

If we do the above, this world will be a much better place for all of us.
